A sunspot erupted this afternoon creating a powerful solar flare bathing earth in electromagnetic radiation, and causing temporary disruptions in some radio communication, according to SpaceWeather.com, while a solar storm continues to rage.

August M5.9-class Solar Flare
So that left eastern side of the Sun keeps being active. At 12:17 UT there was a another M-class solar flare. This time a M5.9-class and it originated from Active Region AR1251.
In this image you can see the ejected plasma, know as Coronal Mass Ejection, right after the solar flare. Since this region just turned over the eastern limb and the ejection is going sideways, it will most likely not impact Earth.

6.0 Quake rocks Northern California , Dozens Injured and Power Outages
#NapaQuake
A 6.0 magnitude earthquake shook north of San Francisco early on Sunday, seriously injuring two people, igniting fires and buckling roads in the scenic Napa valley wine region.
The quake struck near American Canyon some 40 miles (64 kilometres) northeast of San Francisco, the USGS said. It roused people from sleep as far away as San Francisco, and was felt as far east as Sacramento and as far south as Santa Cruz.
Most damage appeared centered around Napa, a famous wine-producing region and a major tourist destination in northern California.
Brick facades gave way in the historic section of downtown Napa, and bricks fell off a second floor corner of the courthouse, which showed cracks. On the main street, masonry collapsed onto a car.
The City’s website said there were some 50 gas line breaks, 30 water line breaks and many broken windows and buildings with interior damage.
The quake knocked out power to about 40,000 homes and businesses in Napa and neighboring cities of Sonoma, St. Helena and Santa Rosa, according to the website for Pacific Gas & Electric.
The California Highway Patrol closed several off-ramps to highways and at least two roads in Napa Valley because of “significant roadway damage”. Drivers were cautioned to be careful at an intersection of two state roads in Napa Valley. “Cracks in road may cause flat tires,” it said on its Twitter account.

Space Weather Trackers Forecast 5-16-14
Good afternoon everyone!
Attached is today’s solar disc viewing plasma at 1 Million Kelvin (AIA 171) to see coronal loops above active regions, 1.25 Million Kelvin to see darker filaments in the corona, and 50,000 Kelvin to see features around sunspot regions in the surface of the chromosphere.
Today’s solar activity has been at quiet levels with only one C-class flare detected from region 2066 in the southern hemisphere.
Currently all sunspot regions remain simple with only C-class flares expected in the next 24 hours.
Geomagnetic activity is also at quiet levels with no disturbances expected in the next 24 hours as well.
